03/04/17: Defending champions Karen Hird & Charlotta Cooley won their fifth consecutive ladies title at Eton yesterday with a hard fought 12-7, 10-13, 14-11, 12-5 win over impressive challengers and first time finalists Ashley Lumbard & Emily Scoones.

Sadly, the 2016 ladies final never took place, with challengers Amira Reimer and Phoebe Bracken unavailable to play the final on the scheduled date. Karen Hird and Charlotta Cooley thus retain the title, winning for a fourth consecutive year.

On a bracing February morning, 37 pairs – continuing the record-breaking trend – assembled for the 2016 Ladies Eton Fives Championships. 15 of these pairs took part in the main championships, divided initially into three pools of five, before a knockout stage to determine which two pairs qualify for the final, which will be held later in the season.
