Kinnaird Cup 2017

20/02/17: The initial rounds of 2017 Kinnaird Cup at Eton over the weekend threw up some absolutely fantastic Fives and whittled a relatively small but extremely strong field down to the final four, who will contest the semi-finals in three weeks time.

Kinnaird Cup Semi-Finals: Same Again...

14/03/16: For the third year in succession the Kinnaird Cup final will be between defending champions Tom Dunbar and Seb Cooley and former winners James Toop and Matthew Wiseman. Toop and Wiseman won their semi-final without having to step on court after a badly timed ankle injury to Anthony Theodossi meant he was forced to withdraw. In the other semi-final Cooley and Dunbar beat Ed Taylor and Ian Hutchinson three games to nil (9, 5 and 6), but had to work hard to overcome a strong challenge from the Salopian pair. The final will take place at Eton on Sunday 3rd April at 2:30pm. If it is anywhere near as good a match as last year's, it will be well worth watching as Tom Dunbar goes for a record twelfth title.

A further 24 pairs entered the Sunday competitions, which with a bit of doubling up meant a very healthy 49 pairs taking part across the weekend.

2015 Kinnaird Cup

The 2015 Kinnaird Cup weekend saw nearly 50 pairs take part in a range of competitions, festivals and plates. 28 pairs entered the main competition, the blue riband event in the Eton Fives calendar. While this is by no means a disappointing number, it is a shame that more Fives players don't consider entering; not only is it an opportunity to take part in the sport's most prestigious competition, the format means that as well getting the chance to share a court with the top players, a whole range of matches is guaranteed across the weekend against a wide variety of pairs of all ages and abilities.
