31/10/17: The eleventh edition of the revived Midlands Tournament at Repton took place at the weekend and produced a win with a strong Millhillian flavour, coach Andrew Rennie and OM Hal Gibson-Leitao defeating Howard Wiseman and Joey Prior in a thrilling five game final.

Midlands 2015: Redemption for Barker and Houlden

02/11/15: Repton was once again the host for the 2015 Midland Tournament at the weekend with another good turnout of over 30 pairs taking part in one of the most entertaining events on the Fives calendar. It is a tournament that has a high emphasis on sociability and friendly fives, with some unusual pairings and yet it still retains a highly competitive edge when it gets to the business end. This year's tournament produced new names on the trophy as Cambridge University's Tony Barker and Riki Houlden bounced back from their shock defeat in last week's Universities tournament to claim the title, beating David Mew and Andrew Rennie in the final.

Nov 2014: Super Cooley Goes Ballistic, Bunyan Is Atrocious*

03/11/14: He'll never win any trophies for on court sartorial elegance, but Nick Bunyan did manage to get his hands on the silverware at the 2014 Midland Tournament at Repton at the weekend; to quickly silence the gasps of disbelief echoing around the Fives world on reading that sentence it should be stated that he was being partnered by multiple Kinnaird champion Seb Cooley. It wasn't entirely the Cooley show, however, with Nick making a real contribution to their final win over Howard Wiseman and Olavian schoolboy Tom Gallagher: if medals were awarded for sitting on the ledge under the front wall, shouting "yours" and getting out of the way, Nick would be first in the queue.

30/10/18: The 2018 edition of the revived Midlands Tournament at Repton last weekend was won by Olavians Tony Barker & Josh Ravi, who bounced back from a 0-12 second game defeat to win the final 2-1 against Cholmeleian brothers Abhishek and Aroop Bhattacharya.

The 2013 edition of the Midlands Tournament took place at Repton over the weekend of November 2nd/3rd. Presided over as usual in their own inimitable style by Howard Wiseman and Dominique Redmond, this year’s tournament featured over 30 pairs and the excellent Saturday night dinner in a local hotel.
