Kinnaird Cup: No Shocks In The Semis

28/03/22: There were no surprises yesterday in the semi-finals of the Kinnaird Cup in association with Advanta Wealth at Eton yesterday with the two top seeded pairs advancing to the final in straight games.

Second seeds Riki Houlden & Jonny Ho already have wins in the London and Northern tournaments under their belt this season and have beaten Hugo Young & Noah Caplin in the latter stages of both. They made it three out of three yesterday with another 3-0 win, although they were pushed hard at the start of the second game before turning on the style to overcome a early deficit and then race through the third game.

Top seeds Seb Cooley & Tom Dunbar have been missing from the sharp end of the season's first two major tournaments following Tom's ankle injury in the early stages of the London Tournament back in November. With Tom now fully recovered from his injury, they looked in ominously fine fettle yesterday, defeating fourth seeds James Toop & Tony Barker for the loss of just five points.

The final promises to be well worth watching, as Tom & Seb go for twelve in a row and Jonny & Riki look to end their long run and complete a clean sweep for the season. The match is at Eton next Sunday (April 3rd) at 2:30pm and spectators are welcome. The match will also be livestreamed.
