New Roof Unveiled at RGS High Wycombe

Paul Bowden reports:

02/11/17: It was fitting that Richard Barber who had officially opened the refurbished Fives courts at RGS High Wycombe in September 2010 when he was chairman of the EFA, was there again today to unveil the new roof.

During the intervening years the sport has grown massively at the school. The Master in charge Antony Silvey, building on the splendid work of this predecessor, Richard Shreeve, has the full support of the Headmaster Philip Wayne and the Director of Sport Dan Pettigrew. He is a great enthusiast and is rapidly expanding the number of matches and opportunities for the boys despite only having two courts on site.

Latest plans include the setting up of a Friends of Fives group for parents and pupils, some training for all the sports staff to involve them more in the game, the introduction of a trophy in honour of Richard Shreeve and a desire to involve the local community in the game. All they need now is some more courts to cater for the demand.
