QEB Court Officially Re-Opened

Natalie Lilienthal reports:

07/10/26: There was a wonderful event at Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet last week to officially re-open their newly refurbished Fives court.

Pupils past and present took to the courts with so much enthusiasm for the game that they had to be persuaded to leave at the end. The court now plays really well, looks great and will keep Fives thriving while the school seeks to expand their Fives facilities.

QEB Head Neil Enright commented:

“It was wonderful to welcome back Eton Fives players from within the alumni community, as well as leading figures from the Eton Fives Association, for the reopening of our existing court at Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet, following a summer refurbishment. The game is in great health at the school and current pupils had the opportunity to play alongside their predecessors in some friendly games to test out the new surfaces. We are hugely grateful to the EFA for all their support with the upgrades and look forward to continuing to put the court to good use.

Fives is a game for life, and the involvement of Old Elizabethans only buttresses the programme here. With so many boys (past and present) keen to play, we hope to gain permission for additional courts to cater to surging demand and bring about a step change in opportunities to learn and compete.”
