Sunningdale Win The Prep Schools

17/03/23: The Preparatory Schools Fives Championship 2023 was won decisively, again, by Sunningdale at Harrow on 16th March 2023.

It is the second year that Archie Logue has won the tournament; he is an excellent player who shows great court craft and accuracy – we hope he will be encouraged to play when he can as he goes on to St Edward’s, Oxford. Archie’s partner was Adam Boyo who supported well. The final was a good game but Sunningdale’s persistent accurate shots into the buttress gave Berkhamsted (Brodie and Senior) very little room for retaliation. Indeed the Sunningdale pair did not allow any opponent even into double figures all day. There were some great matches during the day, particularly Ludgrove 2 against Highgate 1 who prevailed after being a game down and 11-11 in the second. Berkhamsted dominated the bottom half of the draw after the surprise upset of Berkhamsted 4 defeating Ludgrove 1 in the group stage.

The Quarter-Final competition was won by Ludgrove 2, beating Berkhamsted 3. The Jeremy Marston Salver victors were Ludgrove 1, who defeated Ludgrove 3. The Roddy Forman Plate concluded with Berkhamsted 5, victorious against Cranleigh 5.
