Andrew Fraser (1953-2024)

18/11/24: It is with great sadness that I report the death of Andrew Fraser on 15 November 2024 at the age of 71, following the diagnosis of a brain tumour earlier this year.

Andrew played with the Aldenham Fives Club for many years, usually dressed in his beloved rugby shorts and back brace. He rarely missed a Tuesday evening club night, a ladder competition or the Heath Tournament.

He won the Heath Tournament in 1997 and 2000. He was also in the squad for the Aldenham team that won the EFA Trophy in 2015. As an estimate, he played in over 750 club practices/matches.

In his role as Aldenham School Bursar between 1994 and 2017 his inside knowledge of the school was invaluable in getting things done at the fives courts.

Andrew was the club’s treasurer, keeping us financially on track and he also looked after the Eton Fives Association’s membership database and direct debit administration where his eye for detail was invaluable. He was a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Our condolences go to his wife Di and sons Duncan and Iain. Andrew will be greatly missed.
