17/11/21: Past and present Eton Fives players and supporters were welcomed to Repton last Saturday to celebrate a milestone in the revival of the game at the school: the official reopening of the Repton fives courts.
The sun was shining as the Headmaster, Mark Semmence, welcomed a happy mix of alumni, patrons and Eton Fives enthusiasts to an outdoor reception on the balcony of the Kan Library in the impressive Science Priory building, where attendees had a fantastic view of the recently renovated courts. EFA Chair, Chris Davies, also thanked all those involved in the restoration on behalf of the Eton Fives community, before the group moved across to the courts to watch a wonderful exhibition game, played by a quartet of players (Seb Cooley, Charlotta Cooley, Karen Hird and Charles Plummer) with 30 national championship titles between them! All four then joined a large and enthusiastic group of Reptonian boys and girls, expertly marshalled by Master-in-Charge David Exley, for further games, before attendees returned to the Kan Library for a delicious lunch.
