April 2012: Berkhamsted win Division 1

It has been only a matter of time for a while, but Berkhamsted can now officially celebrate winning Division 1 of the EFA League for the first time since 1985. Old Harrovians beat Old Millhillians 1 2-1 at Mill Hill during the week to boost their chances of a top two finish, but the point dropped means that Berkhamsted are now uncatchable at the top of the table with a game to spare, barring any penalty point disasters in their final fixture.

This is a terrific achievement from this team in their first attempt at Division 1: they have undoubtedly been helped by the Olavians' self-imposed squad rotation but such has been their dominance in going on a nine match unbeaten streak, they have clearly proved themselves worthy champions. The squad of Berkhamsted staff - Doug Foster, George Campbell and Ant Theodossi - recent leavers such as Jeremy O'Neill, Charles Holroyd and Andrew Joyce, guest player Ryan Perrie and assorted other Berkhamstedians deserve great credit for this win and have already announced themselves as the team to beat next year.
