Foreword
We had an extremely disappointing entry this year at only eighteen pairs which meant that we dispensed with Eton on the Saturday and went straight into a knockout competition on Sunday 6th April including the six seeded pairs.

Preliminary Rounds (Weeekend 17-18th February - Eton)
Recruitment for the Kinnaird was started rather later that one would ideally like, due to unforseen circumstances. However, 110 people still took part in the preliminary weekend, which broke down into 35 pairs for the main draw, and 20 pairs into the Festival on the Sunday. As ever, Eton proved to be a fantastic venue. The Marquee was up, and crucially Mark Williams was in it – armed with his lap-top computer, the Fives balls and the Draw.

This week has been all about sport. No, not the Champions League, that vulgar procession of overpaid cheats and ruffians. I'm talking about sporting anticipation. No, not for the World Cup - jeez, anyone would think it was David Beckham's ankle that was going to be lying on a catafaque in Westminster Hall for the nation to file mournfully past. No, I am talking about the Kinnaird Cup, the National (and by implication, international) Open Eton Fives Championship.
Kinnaird Cup 2006
Following the enormous entry to the Kinnaird in the 2004-2005 season, it was inevitable that there would be good general awareness that it would soon be coming round again. Mark Herring did a great job at alerting everyone as to the precise dates, but chose not to pursue players on the telephone and to pro-actively recruit it as he had done so successfully the previous year.

Foreword
As in previous years, the early rounds through to the quarter-finals were played at Eton over a weekend. 31st March 2001 and 1st April 2001 to be precise.

James Toop and Matthew Wiseman beat Tom and Peter Dunbar 12-5, 12-8, 7-12, 12-6 in the final at the Westway Sports Centre.
Kinnaird Cup 2000
Foreword
The preliminary and second rounds, quarter-finals and Pepperpot Trophy Festival took place at Eton this year on 8th and 9th April. Whilst, sadly, the overall entry was down this year to twenty-eight pairs, we were graced by excellent weather, particularly on the Saturday.
Kinnaird Cup 2004
Foreword
Another Kinnaird and another low entry despite the efforts of several parties to drum up support. This said, we were a third up on last year with 24 pairs and, to be fair, several regulars were known to be on the injured list. At least the evergreen Mike Fenn was there for the 38th consecutive year. He needed to be evergreen as well, for his first round match ended up being a five game marathon that, sadly, failed to have a happy ending.
